Day 12KOH KONG [B] THE CARDAMOMS IN DEPTH - A CHALLENGING TREK FOR CONNOISSEURS

Today, enjoy the Cardamoms in Depth – a Challenging Trek for Connoisseurs organized by 4 rivers Loge (https://canvasandorchids.com/explore-tours-activities-cambodia/ – Activities name: Cardamom Mountains Trekking)

Outdoor adventure lovers, lace up your hiking shoes and join us for a trek in the Cardamom Mountains. See Cambodia like you’ve never seen it before, with gorgeous views of the rainforests and rivers below.

During the dry season we offer this trekking tour, which starts by motorbike, into the Trapeng Rung region of the Cardamom Mountains for a minimum of two guests.

Holiday trek to mountains and jungle

Prepare your hiking boots, put on some sunscreen, you’re about to embark on a jungle, mountain discovery.

After an early breakfast, at about 8 am, our boat will take you to Tatai to meet your guide. Since childhood, he was one of the best at doing what everybody had to do at that time to survive…logging and poaching. Leaving that life behind to join us as a tour guide, there’s seldom a question he won’t be able to answer about the Cardamom Mountains and jungle.

After a short briefing and you’ll depart on a soft but challenging discovery riding a motorbike, pillion behind your experienced driver. You’ll arrive at the entry point to the rainforest at around 9 am. This is where your trek begins. Rest assured, your guide will always be on the lookout for the smallest sign or presence of wildlife trace. You’ll be the first to know if he spots anything.

Your guide will show you the beauty of the Cardamom Mountains and rainforest, where you’ll enjoy the sound, the scent and the sight of this beautiful green environment.

Around 11.30 am, you’ll reach the Bat Cave, which also houses wild boars at night.

At 1.00 pm you’ll reach the first waterfalls where you’ll have your picnic lunch. You can enjoy swimming at these waterfalls for an hour, then at 2 pm it will be time to leave to explore more of the Cardamoms.

You’ll arrive at the 2nd waterfalls around 2 pm where you can enjoy yourselves for half an hour before it’s time to leave the jungle.

Around 6.00 pm your motorbike driver will pick you up from the exit point, on Road #48 to take you to the Canvas & Orchids Retreat dock to pick up your boat back to the lodge.

Note: ** The tour can only be taken in the dry season between November to April

Another highlight of the Cardamom region, a tour to Koh Kong Khnong is offered every other day, alternating with the boat trip to the Tatai Waterfall (above).

This tour can also be organised on a private basis for four guests or more (subject to boat and guide availability).

Leaving at around 10 am, depending on the tide, you will cruise deep into the mangroves to experience a rare glimpse of life among the fishing communities that live off the natural bounty of the Tatai River.

Drinks will be served en-route as you glide down the tributary to your fishing village destination. Once there you’ll spend time with these shy but friendly people. While the men tend their boats, the women skillfully and patiently mend their nets, whilst children play tag and football in the narrow alleyways between the stilt houses.

After visiting the local pagoda, school and some villagers’ homes, a BBQ lunch will be served on the river beach.
